You know when it comes to the cost of the services that we provide, I am very sensitive to that because this, you know, this is not Hollywood, California. This is Las Cruces in New Mexico. The patients I have are not movie stars. They are engineers, teachers, nurses, university professors, proud Americans, typical Americans but were not the rich and famous and so we are very sensitive to that at our office. We provide a number of different ways to help our patients get their dentistry taken care off.

While I would say for people that think this procedure, that they cannot afford it, that’s wrong. This procedure is very affordable and the best part of it all is that, you can finance it. I mean, you do not have to pay upfront, you know, any huge sum of money and I thought it was going to be more expensive than it really was and so that was a pleasant surprise.

They did a total mouth map that shows after the x-rays were done, a map that shows all of the teeth that need to have work done on them, that’s all delineated so I know what my costs are going to be.

When I saw my smile for the first time after it was done, it was great. I was just so happy. I said, “Oh my goodness, my teeth look so straight. My teeth look so white and I had really never noticed the difference. You know, I thought, you know, my teeth were already white when I first came in here, but when I looked at two pictures that I had of my teeth before and my teeth afterward, there was a giant difference. I mean, it was just nicely straight and even and looked, you know, pretty and it looked like I had had braces or I had had, you know, all sorts of things done, whitening but I had not, you know, I had only had a few things done. So, I was very happy.

You feel better about yourself and you start doing more things and you have more opportunities, even maybe you know, its worth it. For me, every penny that I paid for its worth it.

I have waited for all my life to have a smile that I am happy with and to me the cost was worth it and yes, you know, we are on a retired budget but my husband and I both felt that this was important enough that it was worth it.

I waited until I was in my early 30s to have the work done. It was just something that you live your life and you have got bills to pay, you have got things which you have to take care of, and it was something that in my mind was a luxury that I was going to wait for. Had I known, how pleased I was going to be with the work, I would have done it much earlier.

People, maybe not being quite sure, not being able to put their finger on, “what you did? Boy, you look good!” was the comment that I heard. “What did you do? Did you lose weight? You know, what has happened?” and all of them, just again and again, the world was beautiful. When you think about the priorities of life and those things that are going to be important to you, those things that are going to give you self-confidence and help you put your best foot forward, your smile is really an important factor.

The other day I had a patient say to me, we were doing or putting in some restorations, some cosmetic procedures on her front teeth and she said, ”Dr. Gilbert, I want you to know why I came to you?” and I said, “Why?” and she said, “After my very first visit, when I came to your office,” she said, “I looked around your office,” and she said, “I saw, first of all, you work with such good people and I enjoyed meeting you Dr. Gilbert” but she said, ”I looked around and I saw all the paintings and artwork that you have done. Because I am an artist, I did this painting here in the room, right here behind me.” She said I wanted an artist to look in my mouth and she said, “ I love it. It is a work of art. My smile is a work of art.” It meant so much to me, I cannot tell you. I will tell you, those days I go home feeling so good and feeling that we can, that we really help people and that is my whole goal, that’s what we want to do.

I had no idea that there were so many variations and that he actually took the time to measure my face, my facial structure to make sure that the teeth that he was going to do for me, would match me.

I have always believed that your first impression is your lasting impression and I never thought I had that because of my teeth, the way that they were. So do I just accept the way that I have been all my life or do I do something to improve my life to better it for the future, and I chose to better it. I get a lot of compliments, a lot of compliments just on my overall smile, the way that I come across because I do not do this anymore. I am like all out there with the smile. I don’t hide it anymore. I don’t have to.

I walked home that, got home that night and I was just bouncing off the walls. I was so excited. My wife was, I mean, obviously she was very happy for me because I was excited but she just said, you know, you are just, its amazing, how you are carrying yourself. Because it was so exciting, my life literally had changed within just a couple of hours.
